The Fight for Dominance in the Tech Industry

The desire to be the best in what you do or to be better than the others, the goal to reach at the top and to dominate the world are some of the considerably basic characteristics of human beings. But this is not applicable to individuals only, organizations, companies, countries always trying to better than their competitors or rivals.  The goal here is to be the undisputed leader in whatever field you are indulged in and to drive your competitors out of the market. In today’s world where the world is considered as a global village is still full of such aspiring nations and companies which wants to dominate the world.

There is no single country which dominates each and every industry, but there are some of them which dominates the majority of the industry and sectors. The growth and development in an industry attracts countries to monetize the benefit of such industry which is expanding exponentially. One such industry is Tech Industry, for which several countries and companies are competing for becoming the undisputed leader.

In tech industry too there are several segmentations such as the software industry, electronics industry, semiconductor industry companies, hardware industry and many more. In smartphone industry, Samsung and Apple are considered to be the arch-rivals and market leaders of the said industry. Apple is an American company while Samsung is a Japanese company. Asian countries are gradually making their presence felt by giving tough competition to their American competitors.

In recent years, companies like Huawei & Xiaomi from China has been hurting the American companies severely. The growing tension between the two countries has also resulted in the cut-throat competition and the motive to dominate the other one is at its peak. In semiconductor industry too, the competition to become the market leader is mostly polarized around USA and Asian countries. Companies like TSMC is giving tough competition to American semiconductor manufacturers such as Intel and AMD. In the recent years of semiconductor industry, Japan dominated the DRAM market. But due to the series of bad decisions and failed strategies they lost the top position to Korea and USA. In recent years, China is also planning to become self-dependent by increasing domestic production several folds. They are planning to achieve this feat in next 5-10 years. The American companies are dominating the semiconductor market today but due to increasing competition they must change their strategies, otherwise they will lose their top position to their competitors just like Japan.

The desire to be at the top is what drives these companies and nations towards advancements and innovations. Healthy competition is a key element in the leap of innovation and evolution but when the competition turns into a pit fight then the headache begins. As of now, USA is dominating most of the segments of tech industry, but it won’t be a surprise to see some Asian countries and semiconductor companies dominating several segments of tech industry. In other industries too, the competition is fierce and only time will reveal that who will have the last laugh.
